International Con Man Barack Obama Leaves U.S. With $85 Million In Campaign Fundraising
November 11, 2008 | Issue 44•46

Barack Obama as he appeared to millions of Americans, along with four of the president-elect’s former disguises.

CHICAGO—In a devastating blow to millions of unsuspecting Americans, newly elected president and international con man Barack Obama fled the country Wednesday with nearly $85 million in campaign funds.

According to FBI investigators, Obama’s sudden disappearance was discovered at 6:15 p.m. when the former Illinois senator failed to arrive at a gala event in Lincoln Square, prompting several aides to rush back to his campaign headquarters. At 6:23 p.m., flight logs at O’Hare International Airport confirmed that two passengers, a male carrying two silver briefcases and dressed in a perfectly tailored Brioni tuxedo, and an African-American female wearing a fur coat and speaking in a thick Russian accent, were seen boarding a private plane.

Obama’s campaign office, sources said, was completely vacant aside from a discarded Abraham Lincoln portrait, behind which was an emptied safe that his aides claimed never to have seen before.

In addition, three unconscious Secret Service agents were discovered at the scene, along with two lit cigarettes still burning in an ashtray, and Obama’s daughters, who authorities now believe were taken from an Alabama foster home six years ago.

The only item found inside the metal safe was a letter, handwritten with a fountain pen and titled “An Explanation, My Dears.”

“To my tender little pawns, the all-too-trusting people of America,” said FBI lead investigator Ray Hilland, quoting the letter at a press conference Wednesday. “If you are reading this, then I have already left your silly country in my private jet, and am right now sipping fine champagne with my lovely associate, a woman you have come to know as ‘Michelle.’”

“I assure you, this was the most pleasurable and fulfilling con I have ever pulled off,” the note continued. “Not since the Moroccan elections in 1984 have I taken so much joy in raising, and then crushing, the hopes and dreams of so many pathetic, disenfranchised, and downtrodden people.”

“It’s been an absolute delight doing business with you. Rest assured, your generous contributions will be well spent,” the note concluded. “Fondly yours, Ψ.”

After initiating a further search of his campaign office, officials found more than two dozen counterfeit passports inside Obama’s desk drawer. Authorities suspect that this is not the first time that the man who inspired millions has preyed upon a leadership-starved country, raised a record amount of money by running for office, and then vanished without a trace.

“This explains Portugal in ‘86, Finland in ‘94, and Greece in ‘90,” CIA director Michael Hayden said. “He used the same faultless cover in those elections as he did here—a dead mother, a runaway father, a grandfather who fought in Patton’s or Järnefelt’s or Papdopoulous’ army, and his signature calling card: change.”

Multiple translations of Obama’s books Dreams From My Father and The Audacity Of Hope were also discovered at the scene, each seemingly authored by a different world leader, including former Malaysian president Mohamad Mahathir, former Belgian prime minister Jean-Luc Dehaene, and the 14th Dalai Lama.

Of particular interest were the titles Les Rêves De Mon Père and L’audace D’espére, both of which feature a cover photo of French president Nicolas Sarkozy, a man Paris officials claim hasn’t been seen or heard from in nearly eight months.

According to investigators, it appears that over the past 15 years, Obama has been elected president or prime minister in nearly 45 countries, many of them African. Officials estimate that since 1983 Obama has amassed more than $2.3 billion in stolen campaign financing.

“He’s good, real good,” Hayden said. “Sometimes he’ll have three campaigns going on at once. Recently uncovered video of him in Bangladesh, Ukraine, and Italy in 1989 shows him shifting seamlessly between three languages. And no matter what dialect he speaks, he speaks it passionately. He also abides by a flawless formula: a desperate country, plus hope, plus the promise of a bold new tomorrow equals big bucks.”

“Hell, even I donated the $2,400 to his campaign,” he added.

Obama’s closest aides, including head campaign strategist David Axelrod, admitted that they never once suspected their candidate was anyone other than who he claimed to be. Nevertheless, Axelrod said that the recent revelation did explain why he once overheard Michelle Obama tell her husband that “the time had come for their coup de grâce.”

“He completely suckered me,” said a visibly dejected vice president-elect Joe Biden, who estimated that he raised over $10 million for Obama. “I trusted him. Change, ‘Yes We Can,’ a new kind of politics, bringing the nation together, valuing an open dialogue about the issues—I trusted all of it.”

Added Biden, “I should have known it was too good to be true.”

Everyday Americans, whom Obama referred to as “so many unwitting chess pieces in my elaborate game,” also expressed shock Wednesday.

“I’m devastated,” Pennsylvania resident and Obama donor Denise Bell told reporters. “I just hope he comes back soon so he can be our president.”

“If it is possible to be heard over the deafening applause, may I please say: As a native Texan, although recently relocated to VA, I resent the stereotype that intelligence, rational thought, and intellectual vigor is predicated on some geographical point of origin.
“When Americans get scared, they seem to revert back to conservatism. Conservatism is easy. It doesn’t challenge the mind in a lot of ways.” Conservatism is not easy if you are a thinking person. It forces the mind to stand still, reverse course, and reject all knowledge acquired in order to maintain an un-natural position, a constant resistance toward forward motion. When people allow their fear to dictate their actions they become “fear based”. The fear informs the horizon of their life. From where I sit, that is tragedy. That is disgusting; yet, I know with all my being that is choice. Choice to be left behind. Choice to be passed by. And ultimately, the choice to “be scared”. Fear does nothing but weaken the spirit and prepare the soul for domination. Not this Texan… ~k”

Of course geography has no bearing on intelligence. Yet stereotypes exist for a reason. I don’t think it’s any stretch to say Texas is more conservative than Vermont, or would be more likely to maintain mores the rest of the country has long since abandoned.

I truly don’t believe one party is more virtous than the other, or has a lock on good policy.

I’m a social liberal and econmically split between liberal and conservative. I believe what I believe because of things I’ve witnessed and how I’ve been socialized in my life. I can fully acknowledge that in different circumstances, I may have turned out as a conservative, or a bleeding heart liberal.

I don’t think being a conservative is a concious choice to regress. It’s an unconcious choice to maintain the status qou. Most people in this country are socially conservative to various degrees.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve been pretty uncomfortable with homosexuals. Only in the last few years, as I’ve been challenging myself and what I believe on a lot of issues, did I come to believe in personal freedom and rights to the extent I do today.

I’ve met gay people, I’ve shaken their hands, and no, it turns out it’s not contagious. But in another life, who knows if I’d make that jump? When you discuss gay marriage with people, most people see the logic of your position. Most people move at least somewhat to the left on it.

It’s a challenge: do I push myself and my beliefs, or do I choose to stay where I am?

But I think you’re right. There are plenty of people, liberal and conservative, who choose to live in fear. Fear of blacks, gays, terrorists, the economy, whatever. It takes a lot of brainpower, and a lot of courage to move beyond that fear and to embrace what makes you afraid.

Someone I know once said Libertarianism is great because it really gives you the freedom to be a nut.

You think the thought of legalizing drugs isn’t terrifying to me? It is. But it takes courage to move beyond fear, and embrace the rational argument beyond what makes you afraid.

The way we move this country socially is to keep talking about it, keep challenging ourselves and those we meet to think rationally. I do it nearly every day, and I’m proud to say I’m still moving to the right on some things and to the left on others.

If someone likes politics for politics sake, it’s not that important. But if you’re serious about being right, about finding the truth in between the shades of gray, nothing is more important.

Interesting points.

Ironically, I do think this is a center-right nation. I don’t think 5 out of the last 7 Presidents being Republican is an accident, and not merely attributable to Democrats and their “Operation: Blow It Again” over the last few Presidential campaigns.

When Americans get scared, they seem to revert back to conservatism. Conservatism is easy. It doesn’t challenge the mind in a lot of ways. “Don’t change anything. Keep the status quo. And for christsake, don’t let queers marry.” (depending on your historical context, change that to don’t let blacks and whites marry).

It seems to take a mammoth effort to get a Democrat elected, and not so much of one for a Republican. This election is a perfect example. We had a vastly superior candidate, all the money in the world, and the best campaign in history. Yet we didn’t win by a 49 state landslide the way Republicans, at least used to be, capable of (1972).

Prop 8. Wow. If gay marriage can’t find a home in CA, it really can’t find a home anywhere.

I’m a HUGE believer in marriage. Gay, straight, or anything. Opponents of gay marriage love to trot out the “slippery slope” argument, that if we let gays get married, what’s next? Men marrying animals?

First of all, if a man really wants to marry an animal, why the hell should we discriminate against Texas?

But really, I don’t care who you marry, what you had for breakfast, or any other aspect of your personal life. If someone else excercises, I don’t get stronger. And if someone marries a fish, that doesn’t have any impact on my marriage.

Conservatives are right. We do need to support family values. And in this day in age, I don’t think we have any right denying marriage or parenthood to people in love, whatever they are. Show me the evidence that says gays can’t make great parents. In fact, show me the evidence that says gays don’t make BETTER parents than straight ones.

Look at every gay person you’ve EVER seen. I don’t know about you, but every gay dude I’ve ever met has been pretty well educated, with a stable career, and making a hell of a lot more money than I do.

Now contrast that to the guy in Appalachia wearing a “Who Farted?” hat, married to some toothless lagoon creature out on bail for a drug charge. ‘Cause I’ve met that guy. I work with him. And guess how many kids he has.

If you guessed FIVE, you’re right. Those kids are the future NASCAR fans of America, and we’re really comfortable denying the “sanctity” of marriage to gay people?

It looks pretty damn unsanctimonious to me already. Let everyone in who’s willing to do what it takes to make it work. Let everyone in who can provide a stable home and future for their children. And for christsake, let ‘em adopt so pregnant teens can go back to being irresponsible.

It’s a question of wrong versus right. And as California has yet again managed to prove, we’re on the wrong side of it.

So really.

Published by mikeconnolly under Uncategorized Edit This

The election is over. I have nothing to write about anymore. Nothing really “grinds my gears” so to speak.

I went to the gym today. Did some squats. Some benchpress. Then I came home and drank a big jar of creatine.

Does this seem interesting to you? Because it surely does not to me.

Let me then take this moment to say The Office is the greatest show ever produced in America.

Perhaps sometime, I’ll find something creative and political to write about. Until then…I big you Adou. (is that how you spell that?)

Republican Party, Working Joe bid each other Ado until 2012.

WASHINGTON—As the 2008 presidential campaign came to a close Tuesday, the Republican Party and the average American hard-working Joe bid each other a fond farewell at a small rally in Pennsylvania, vowing to meet once again, as scheduled, at the dawn of the next election season. “The Republican Party wishes to thank the Joe for his cooperation and faithful support, and we look forward to acknowledging his needs again in 2012,” said GOP representative Luke Hayes, moments before getting in a car and heading back to Washington. “Until then, old friend, we’d just like to say happy trails to you and best of luck.” Representatives for the average working Joe reported that the time spent together had been a pleasure, even though he did not actually get around to voting this year. -From The Onion.com

Oh yeah, and hey, we won an election.

Slots.

Published by mikeconnolly under Uncategorized Edit This

For those of you not in MD, let me tell you the other big question facing voters on election day: whether to allow slots in the state of MD.

I’ve heard all sides to the argument. That slots would bring in more money to the state that we’re already spending on out of state slots for education and other services. That it would be the most regressive form of taxes on those that can least afford it. That it would be immoral. After all, if everyone else is a whore, does that mean you should be one to?

Let’s set aside for the moment that yes, I would gladly allow legal prostitution in my state. I’ve made up my mind, and absolutely, I’m voting yes on question 2 for slots in MD.

Children are innocent. Adults aren’t. To be honest, I really don’t care what other adults do. I don’t believe the government or other people should be allowed to make moral decisions for others, under the premise that we can make better decisions for them than they can.

Let people live their own lives. Even if slots didn’t bring one single dime of money into the state coffers, I’d still support it on general principles.

And where did this stone age idea come about that it’s “immoral”? It’s gambling. Is poker immoral also? What about dancing or loud music? When people want to outlaw abortion, I disagree but at least I see where they’re coming from from a morality standpoint. But what basis do we have to say putting a quarter into a machine violates any code of morality since the 19th century?

Prohibiton worked. And all across America, teenagers are smoking weed for the last time, knowing the government is hot on the trail in the War on Drugs. Or is that not the case?

People are going to do what they’re going to do, and when it doesn’t harm those around them, let’s not make their decisions for them.

We don’t know what’s best. We can’t make better decisions on their behalf. Let’s strike a blow for freedom, and vote yes on question 2.

Election.

Published by mikeconnolly under Uncategorized Edit This

After almost two years, it’ll finally be over tommorow. Obama will win. By a landslide. Which makes it wierd that he’s doing so well among Latinos, since you think they’d be ideologically opposed to landlsides.

On this wonderful election eve, I’d like to finally take the time to put the proverbial cart before the horse, and say some things from the heart.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! AHHHH!!! HOW DOES THAT FEEL REPUBLICANS?!?!?! THAT’S FOR TALKING TRASH EVERY DAY FOR THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF!!!!

Every day I deal with right wingers in their natural habitat of smugness. At work, at home, everywhere I go I seem to be surrounded by right wingers, with the exception being college. And of course school is almost worse, being solely populated by the thoughtless youth with their Morgan Freeman and their Music Television.

And every one of them loves to make me a target.

Listen: I hate talking politics. I really do. I don’t mind writing about it, but the reality is I’m a lot more informed than the average, and have spent a lot of time I should’ve been meeting girls thinking about these things. I’m smarter than you. I promise. So no, I don’t want to take your bait and talk politics with people too dumb to understand what I’m talking about.

So I hem and haw. I seem much less thought out, much less informed than I am, because I hate talking about it. And you all feel superior.

But guess what? Out of the 9 Republicans you ran for President, all of them sucked! You people are going to get monkeystomped, and all you can do is whine and complain and call Obama “the messiah”.

Please, keep going with that nickname. Because all that does is point out how our guy has…what do those pundits call it…SUPPORT? Is that it?

And like it or not, he’s going to be the 44th President of the United States. So just sit back and whine for the next four years while our foriegn policy gets smarter, our economy gets stronger, and our President doesn’t choke on snack food.

It’s going to be pretty fun. Just watch.

What do squirrels eat? ACORNs

Published by mikeconnolly under Uncategorized Edit This

This was so well done, I have to repost it. From Joe Trippi.com:

“Note to GOP – ACORN Was Defrauded and You Know It.
A short history of how voter registration drives got to where they are today.

1. The GOP during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s employed a number of methods to register voters to insure the people they were registering were indeed Republican.

One method was to go through a neighborhood and register everyone who wasn’t registered. Then they would throw out all the voter registration cards of those who had registered as “Democrats” – thereby building up Republican registration.

I am not saying that Democrats were saints. But Democrats did not have to employ this method. Democrats tended to go deep into poor and minority areas such as Watts, or Harlem and could register thousands, even millions, of new voters and only rarely find someone who registered as a Republican. So few that it wasn’t worth disenfranchising them by throwing their registration cards in the trash.

With Democrats registering new voters by the millions in inner cities – Republicans had to keep up by mounting some kind of registration drive - they had to go into suburbs and places where voters were split and they had to find a way to come out of their drives with far more Republicans than Democrats to make it worth the effort. Throwing out registration cards of those who registered as Democrats became on way to do this.

BUT LAWS BEGAN TO BE PASSED TO PROHIBIT THIS PRACTICE – INCREASINGLY THESE LAWS REQUIRED THAT ALL REGISTRATION CARDS HAD TO BE TURNED IN. You could not simply turn in the registration cards that you wanted to turn in – you had to turn them all in.

This is exactly why ACORN had to turn in the “fraudulent” voter registrations cards for Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

2. In order to raise millions of dollars for these registration drives it became important for them to be non-partisan so that contributors would receive the appropriate tax deduction for their contribution to the effort. This meant that once such a drive went into a neighborhood it was required to register both Democrats and Republicans to maintain its charitable or non-profit tax status. Progressives again did not have to worry about this – they could mount non-partisan voter registration drives inner cities – register millions of new voters and vast majorities of them would be progressive.

Republicans had to go to the suburbs and other areas of America that were split in their political allegiances. So they developed a method called “bird-dogging” where a party volunteer would go door to door in a suburb and ask the unregistered if they sided with the GOP or the Democrats. In the early days of these efforts they would literally leave a “tale” such as a popsicle in the yard for a volunteer of the non-profit to find and they would register people in that household. This is how the GOP stayed within the law of registering everyone in an area – turning in all the cards – and still registered more new Republicans. These methods became more modern and targeted with the advent of computers and databases that allow for better targeting than the old “bird-dog” method.

3. How it was ACORN that was defrauded and not the American people (despite the GOP’s cries to the contrary). Progressive organizations began to pay volunteers $1 per new voter registered. This was supposed to encourage these volunteers to stay in the field longer – register more voters and provide a small reward for their effort.
So here is what happened and the GOP knows it. Most of the ACORN workers did their jobs and went out and registered new voters. But some workers defrauded ACORN – simply sitting down at home or somewhere else and filling out cards to make $1 per card – someone could make $100 or $200 per day doing this. ACORN is absolutely correct that it has to turn every one of these cards in – why? Return to #1 above.

Mickey Mouse will not be showing up to vote on election day. A voter registration worker defrauded ACORN by turning in the phony card to make a buck.
All ACORN did was turn Mickey’s card in as required by law.

The GOP is going to question the legitimacy of this election based on this garbage?

I have a prediction Barack Obama is going to win by more votes than ACORN registered.

You can problems with the way ACORN does things, or with the way both sides register voters. Or with how we got to where we are.

But get over it – watch the flood on election day – as the “Obama effect” takes hold and millions of Americans vote for change as looks likely from this vantage point.”

Welcome home, Colin Powell, welcome home.

Hey. It’s nice to see you here. No, don’t worry. There’s plenty of space for you here on the bandwagon. You’re not too late.

Oh that? That’s just Ben Affleck. Hey Ben, move over will ya? Give Colin a seat.

Can I get you anything? You must be pretty tired. It’s been a long journey, from the Bush Administration all the way over here. I thought you were gone forever when I saw you at the UN. Guess that turned out to be pretty emberassing huh?

But no matter, you’re here now. You’re safe. We won’t use you as our “token black guy” to show there’s at least one minority in our camp. We won’t dupe you with false intelligence and make you look like an idiot, dragging your name through the mud.

Go on, put your feet up. I think you’ll find the chairs suprisingly comfortable. We raised 150 million in September alone. We can afford a pretty nice bandwagon. So go ahead.

Do you want to be Secretary of State again? Oh, I get it. Too soon. Well we’ll talk about that later. Until then, just hang out and enjoy the ride Mr. Powell. It’s good to have you here.
